Stainless Steel 446 Tubes are also referred to as UNS S44600 Tubes that are extensively used in various industrial applications. The tubes are composed of ferrritic non-heat treatable stainless steel alloy in which it includes chromium, nickel and carbon content. This alloy of tubes possesses superior resistance to sulfidation, oxidation and other forms of hot corrosion in high-temperature environments. These tubes are non-hardenable and exhibit superior thermal conductivity. The tubes also demonstrate great resistance to abrasion, scaling and sulfidizing atmospheres. Basically, these alloys of tubes are heat resistant alloy that tolerates molten brass and copper content. However, these tubes are severely embrittles in the temperature range of 700-1000 degree C. The tubes have high ductile to the brittle impact transition temperature. Thus the successful bending and forming of these tubes are aided by means of low forming speed and edge preparation. The tube possesses superior toughness and durability at elevated temperature. The forging of these tubes begins at 2100 degree F and completed at 1600 degree F.
The grade of tubes is hot worked at a temperature of 1093-1177 degree C. After that these tubes are annealed at 816 degree C and then these are water quenched.
