Details of Stainless Steel 317L Tubes
These tubes are comprised of nickel, chromium and molybdenum content. Alloy 317L is from the family of austenitic stainless steel. This grade has a high level of resisting elements that improve higher resistance to abrasion and pitting corrosion as same as traditional grades. These tubes have enhanced corrosion resistance strength in the higher reducing environments even in halide and chloride containing environments. Alloy 317 is available in tow variant of carbon that makes it prone to intergranular attacks. The lower version of carbon has outstanding resistance ability to the carbide precipitation environments. The composition of nitrogen content strengthens these tubes. These tubes have properties that are present on lower and higher carbon version. These tubes in annealed condition become non-magnetic in nature.
The heat treatment operations are not recommended for hardening these tubes; however, cold working operation operations strengthen the hardness of tubes without embrittlement. The desired mechanical properties are achieved by these operations. After this operation, its structure turns to magnetic in nature. These tubes are weldable and workable with all standard shop fabrication process. The molybdenum content present on it offers superior local and general corrosion resistance. These tubes perform well in the chemical containing environments even in the acetic acids, nitric acids, phosphoric acids and other harsh chemical containing environments. These tubes can be induced to regulate in the various organic and inorganic compounds containing environments. These tubes are non-toxic and have bio-fouling properties.
These tubes offer great service in the chromium carbide precipitation in the temperature in the temperature between 800 deg F to 1500 deg F. the carbon content makes it ideal for adverse and critical environments.
SS tubes are used in the environments where the issue is chloride stress corrosion. These tubes are resistive to stress corrosion cracking.
