Alloy details
Stainless steel 316L is the austenitic SS that is bearing molybdenum. This alloy is highly resistant to general corrosion and pitting as compared to chromium-nickel based SS. It is assuring high formability, high creep resistance, pitting/corrosion resistance and tensile/rupture strength at a greater temperature. Here L means that it is having carbon alloying element to the maximum level of 0.03%. L grade alloys are sensitization resistance into the heat treatment and in short term exposures. L-grade is having little lower strength than the standard stainless steels.
