Alloy description
Alloy 316 grade is an austenitic grade comes in the 300 series. It contains molybdenum content that offers improved corrosion resistance. Particularly, it is apparent for pitting and crevice corrosion even in the environment that contains a high level of chlorides. It is also available in the lower version of carbon gives immunity to grain boundary carbide precipitation. It is also resistive to sensitization. Thus, this grade is applied in the heavy gauge welded components.
For elevated applications, the higher carbon version is also available which is used to resist deformation and elongation. Stainless Steel S31600 Seamless Pipes are readily formable and machinable with all standard fabrication process. These pipes can be exposed in the higher chemical zones where a higher concentration of chemicals is encountered such as phosphoric acids, nitric acids, acetic acids, and other harsh chemicals. These are not affected by organic and inorganic compounds. It has also good oxidation resistance in fluctuating environments. Because of the higher weldability, all standards welding process can be used for the welding operation.
